Willy Valier

Willy Valier was born in Bolzano in December 1920. He enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence but, after the first year of attending , the outbreak of the Second World War forced him to interrupt his studies and join the German Navy as a volunteer. From 1950 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich for four intense years, before finally abandoning his studies and returning to Siusi allo Sciliar. It was in those years that Valier's works were presented for the first time to the South Tyrolean public in a group exhibition. Later, the artist exhibited in Bolzano, Bologna and Vienna, and attend several national competitions. In 1958 Valier took part in the International Exhibition in Brussels, two years later in the International Exhibition of Abstract Art in the National Gallery of Pistoia. His works were exhibited in Austria, Germany, Syria, Egypt, Denmark and Sweden. Willy Valier died in Senigallia in 1968
